Germany, Here They Come!

The Venturing crew is gearing up for the adventure of a lifetime—Germany, 2026! After what seems like an eternity of waiting, the trip is finally on the horizon. If their past camping trips and weekend getaways were exciting, nothing will compare to the epic journey they’re about to embark on in the land of castles, history, and incredible food.

Let’s start with the obvious: German food. The crew is ready to dive into giant pretzels, bratwurst, schnitzel, and maybe even a taste of authentic German chocolate. The bakeries alone are enough to make anyone excited, with their legendary pastries that everyone will be craving.

But it’s not just about food. The sights they’ll experience? Unbelievable. From exploring the streets of Berlin to standing in front of the Brandenburg Gate and taking in the historical weight of the Berlin Wall, they’ll see Germany’s most iconic landmarks firsthand. And then there are the castles—Neuschwanstein, for example, is straight out of a fairytale, and the crew can only imagine the awe of standing before it.

As Venturers, they’re not just there to see the sights. Outdoor adventure is in their DNA. The crew will take on the Alps with hikes that’ll challenge them physically and reward them with breathtaking views. Picture them standing at the top of a mountain, surrounded by stunning scenery, with plenty of new stories to share once they’re back home.

One of the most exciting parts? Meeting other Scouts. Germany has a rich Scouting tradition, and the crew can’t wait to connect with Venturers and Scouts from all over the world. They’ll exchange stories, share skills, and probably teach their new friends a thing or two—like the magic of s’mores.

This trip will push the Venturers out of their comfort zones in ways they haven’t experienced before. Whether it’s navigating unfamiliar cities, learning how to communicate in another language, or bonding with their crew in a foreign country, they’ll come back with a deeper sense of independence, stronger friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Germany is calling, and this Venturing crew is more than ready to answer. The adventure, the growth, and the stories they’ll bring back—2026 is shaping up to be legendary.

The Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews Course (ILSC) has been created to help Venturers learn and practice the attitudes and skills that good leaders demonstrate. The course is a series of lessons divided into three modules: Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Crews. The syllabus contains six and a half hours of instruction, but a course length may vary depending on facilitators’ choice of games, the content chosen for more extensive discussion, and the needs of the crew.

Venturing empowers you to create your own experiences while bringing Scouting values to life through high adventure outdoor activities and challenging real-world projects.

A Coastal Odyssey: Crew 75 Explores the Enchanting Outer Banks of North Carolina

The Outer Banks of North Carolina have long been an alluring destination for travelers seeking stunning coastal landscapes, rich history, and a taste of adventure. Last year, a group of intrepid explorers from Crew 75 embarked on a thrilling journey to this remarkable region. From serene beaches to historic lighthouses, their trip was filled with unforgettable experiences and newfound appreciation for the beauty of North Carolina’s coastal wonderland.

As the Crew arrived on the Outer Banks, they were instantly captivated by the warm hospitality of the locals and the gentle sea breeze that welcomed them. With their cameras and spirits ready, they began their exploration on the wide, sandy beaches that stretched as far as the eye could see. From the tranquility of Carova Beach to the liveliness of Nags Head, each beach presented its unique charm, offering the perfect setting for relaxation and recreation.

Finally camping at the grand beach of Frisco in the Southern most point of the ocean.

The Outer Banks have a rich maritime history, and the Crew was eager to immerse themselves in its allure. They visited the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, which showcased artifacts and stories from the many shipwrecks that dot the coast. The crew was fascinated by tales of pirates, brave lighthouse keepers, and the heroic efforts of the United States Life-Saving Service.

Don’t forget the UFO museum!

One of the highlights of the Crew expedition was visiting the iconic lighthouses that guide ships along the treacherous coastline. They climbed the spiral stairs of the Bodie Island Lighthouse, capturing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape from the top. At Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, they marveled at its historic significance, being the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States.

Adventure beckoned as the Crew ventured into the waters of the Outer Banks. From kayaking through serene marshlands to windsurfing and kiteboarding in the brisk ocean breeze, they found themselves surrounded by nature’s wonders. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore, in particular, provided the perfect playground for water enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

No visit to the Outer Banks would be complete without delving into the captivating mystery of the Lost Colony. At Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, the crew explored the remnants of England’s first attempt at establishing a colony in the New World. The story of the Lost Colony, where a group of settlers mysteriously disappeared, still intrigues historians and visitors to this day.

And then – there is Duck Donuts. Should we say more? We do it again in August. Join the adventure!

Up The Creek…. Without A Paddle…..

In a few weeks, our daring crew will be departing our lovely town to take a jaunt into the wild blue yonder. No, not a flight, but White Water Rafting at the United States National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC.

There, they will Zip, Raft, Kayak, Surf, Climb, Bike, Hike….

Join us for our trip – and hopefully if we fall, it’s over deep water!

We came back, In First Place in Multiple Categories!

Venturing Crew 75 vent to BSA Winterfest in Gatliinburg, TN with an aim to compete against the thousands of youth and took home first place across several categories.

Winterfest is an exciting, fun-filled, and competitive event for Explorers, Venturers, Sea Scouts & older Scouts BSA troops. Winterfest is an action-packed 2-day event filled with competitions, aquatic and STEM events, shooting sports, climbing, sports tournaments and more! Many events are related to various career fields such as Fire Service, Law Enforcement, and EMS.

The youth of the crew participated in several events, and this is the result of those activities:

Yannick coming out of her First Place Finish with a Smile.

First place Squeeze Box – Yannick A. She Managed to squeeze out the competition with 5.5 inches. The other Crew member (from another council) we wish him a quick recovery!

First Place went to our resident dead eye – Regan T. who scored first place at the Outdoor Range event of Rifle. His grouping was so close that you couldn’t tell he was shooting .22’s. So when we look at starving with the next Apocalypse, we’re set.

First Place was sternly in place for the Anchor Dive – it went to our unsinkable Kara K. who paddled across the length of the Olympic sized pool and then ran the Anchor back after diving down 12 feet to pull it up. It was almost a flawless performance.

First Place saved the day in the Lifeguard Relay – it also went to our resident Lifeguard Kara K. who did it so fast, by the time we had the camera focused, she was done. With Kara around I am positive that you won’t drown!

Second Place for the Rubber Ducky Regatta went to Kara K. who paddled across the water like, well a duck. She was Quacking us up teaching everyone what the rules were. We are encouraged that the rest of the flock had something to shoot for.
